Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao of Goa calls on the faithful to spread hope, serve the marginalised and promote harmony as Christians celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Panaji, Goa (Indian Catholic News) — Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao of Goa has called on Christians to become “catalysts of peace” and reach out to the marginalised in his Easter message, highlighting hope amid global conflict and division.
Reflecting on the meaning of Easter, this year celebrated on April 5, he described the Resurrection as “the ultimate victory of light over darkness and hope over despair,” urging the faithful to live out this message in daily life.
“In a world often fractured by conflict and division, Easter calls us to be catalysts of peace,” Cardinal Ferrao said in his message posted on the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman website.
The archbishop encouraged concrete expressions of faith through service, especially towards those on the margins of society.
“As we celebrate the New Life brought in by the Risen Lord, I urge you to reach out to the marginalized and the lonely,” he said. “Let our joy be infectious and translated into concrete acts of service, with a renewed commitment to promote understanding, forgiveness and harmony in our society.”
Cardinal Ferrao, who is also president of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) for the 2025-2028 term, concluded his message with a prayer for peace and blessing. “May the Risen Lord bless our homes and our land with lasting peace,” he said.
